ASA Codes
· Advertisements must comply with the law and licensees must make that a condition of acceptance.
· Advertisements must reflect the spirit, not just the letter of the rules.
· Advertisements must not state or otherwise create the impression that a product can legally be sold when it cannot.
· There must be a clear distinction between programmes and advertisements.
· Advertisements must not make unsubstantiated claims about environmental Impact.
Ofcom Codes
· Broadcast competitions and voting must be conducted fairly.
· Broadcasters must exercise the proper degree of responsibility with respect to the content of programs which are religious programs.
· Any infringement of privacy in programs, or in connection with obtaining material included in programs, must be warranted.
· Material likely to encourage or incite the commission of crime or to lead to disorder must not be included in television or radio services.
· Material that might seriously impair the physical, mental or moral development of people under eighteen must not be broadcast.
The complainant challenged whether this claim was misleading because he believed that the Samsung Galaxy S II phone was thinner.
I think that this advert should not be advertised unless they are 100% sure that there claim is true because then they are telling a lie and they also have to watch out that no other company brings out new phone that is thinner than there product.
